Microfluidic Modeler

Explore microfluidic geometry before prototype fabrication.

Use the browser-based Microfluidic Modeler to explore cartridge concepts, channels, ports, cuts, sketches, rounded features, and exportable geometry before engineering and fabrication review.

Concept-stage alpha tools Block, sketch, extrude, cuts, holes, slots, fillets, patterning, coordinates, view controls, and GLB export. Physics simulation, validated DFM rules, and manufacturing handoff remain roadmap items.

Platform roadmap

Built to grow from CAD into full microfluidic design support.

Parametric CAD Channel layouts, ports, chambers, rounded corners, cartridge covers, and fixture-aware dimensions.
Template libraries Mixers, droplet generators, siphon valves, lateral-flow housings, and lab-on-disc concepts.
Design checks Manufacturing constraints, wall thickness, port spacing, strip pockets, and export readiness.
Simulation path Future CFD and COMSOL-style request workflows for flow rate, pressure, mixing, and assay timing.

Product review

Recommended improvements before broader release.

The current alpha already supports simple geometry, sketches, cuts, holes, fillets, coordinate editing, and export. The next phase should make the workflow easier for new users while adding microfluidic design intelligence.

Send feedback
01 Guided first-use flow

Start users with a short chip setup: units, substrate size, channel depth, fabrication method, and target application.

02 Touch-first navigation

Improve iPhone, iPad, and trackpad use with explicit rotate, pan, zoom, fit, and reset controls that do not require hidden shortcuts.

03 Clearer tool modes

Separate sketch, feature, view, and inspection modes so users always know whether they are drawing, cutting, selecting, or moving the camera.

04 Dimensioned editing

Add click-to-edit dimensions, constraints, centerlines, grids, snapping presets, and visible units for channel and cartridge features.

Next feature priorities

Microfluidic features to add next

These additions move the modeler from a general 3D sketch tool toward a practical cartridge and lab-on-chip workflow.

Channel library Straight, serpentine, Y-junction, T-junction, droplet generator, mixer, valve, inlet, outlet, and cuvette templates.
Design rule checks Minimum wall thickness, channel spacing, port clearance, strip pocket fit, manufacturable radii, and dead-volume flags.
Export workflow STL/STEP-ready export path, drawing snapshots, bill of features, and design package download for fabrication review.
Simulation handoff Flow-rate, pressure-drop, mixing, siphon, plasma separation, and cuvette-fill request forms for CFD or COMSOL review.
